Galerie Jaroslava Fragnera, Wednesday–Sunday 4 December 2025 – 1 March 2026, opening 3 December 2025 at 6 p.m.
The exhibition accompanied by the critical cataloque Stavoprojekt 1948–1953 / practice is the outcome of the grant Stavoprojekt 1948–1953. Collectivization of architectural designing and its imprint in the memory of Czech landscape and cities. The exhibition consists of three sections. The first maps the establishment and operation of the state design institution during the first five-year plan. The second part uses the example of a housing estate to reveal the societal priorities of the time, as well as the methods of typification. The third part provides an overview of Stavoprojekt’s diverse range of activities in terms of building typology.
The exhibited artifacts mainly come from the unprocessed ČSSZ – Stavoprojekt fund of the National Archives and have not yet been presented to the public. Their unique raw form provides an authentic insight into the lives of architects and engineers in the early post-war years. The exhibition is complemented by equally exceptional items from the collections of the Municipal Museum of Železný Brod, as well as evidence cards documenting period field research conducted at the Czech Technical University, and footage from the National Film Archive’s newsreels.
